A gentle, creative emotional-learning journey that helps elementary students notice feelings, reflect on their experiences, discover what helps during stinky moments, and create a personalized My Ishi Feelings Book of their own.
My Ishi Feelings Book invites students to explore feelings and everyday experiences alongside Ishi—the little rock with a big heart.
Through drawing, writing, conversation, reflection, and hands-on activities, students learn to notice how they feel, explore feelings that may not have a name, connect feelings to their own everyday experiences, think about everyday “stinky moments,” and explore calming tools and other things that may help.
Along the way, students create their own Ishi and gradually build toward a special five-page My Ishi Feelings Book filled with their own ideas, experiences, reflections, and reminders of what helps.
The program is intentionally open-ended. There are no “right” feelings or right answers. Students are encouraged to notice, wonder, create, and express themselves in ways that feel comfortable to them.
